In all spiritual and esoteric traditions, prayer is critical to the faithful’s spiritual life.
Prayer is not just petitioning the deity. It also serves as an avenue to experience God himself.
According to St. Therese of Lisieux, “Prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.” When we pray sincerely, the heart opens and serves as a floodgate for God’s mercy, love, and blessing.
However, there is a proper formula for our prayers to become effective.
Remember that praying is more than asking favors from God
First and foremost, prayer is not only about asking something but a form of surrendering to God. When we pray, we surrender not only our problems and concerns but our entire being.
In our prayer, we must submit entirely our little wills to the Will of God.
One beautiful prayer, which was introduced to Ms. Alice Bailey, says:
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men –
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
Moreover, when we pray, we must also pause to hear God’s voice in silence. One must note that prayer is a two-way communication between you and your God.
